SensL to Show Live Demonstrations of Three New Products at Photonics West 2006
(Cork, Ireland; 17 Jan, 2006) – SensL, a provider of innovative low light detection sensors and modules, today announced that they will be demonstrating three new products at Photonics West 2006 the SPMMini, the first real solid state alternative to the photomultiplier tube (PMT), the PCSTime the world’s first integrated photon timing system and the PCMPlusX, an intelligent USB
photon counting system.
The SPMMini is a large area, high gain Silicon APD that offers the world’s first direct replacement for linear PMTs. Based on a new and novel silicon structure the device combines the high gain (10 6 ) and gain stability of PMTs together with the form factor, low voltage (<100V) and mechanical robustness of silicon APDs. In addition, the SPMMini undamaged by exposure to excess or ambient light, which eases assembly and lowers application failures. SensL sees the SPMMini as the ideal solution for low light detection based instrumentation OEMs striving to design more portable, smaller and low cost systems.
The PCSTime is a complete photon timing system solution in a box and incorporates the latest onboard microprocessors, memory and high speed USB. The PCSTime integrates a low jitter photon counting sensor, counting and time stamping hardware and timing analysis software into a single module. The system features time resolution (time tagging) down to 2.5ns, time binning
multichannel scalar/averager (MCS/MCA) and time correlated single photon counting. The photon counting sensor has a timing jitter of <100ps and a peak quantum efficiency of 45%. ,Options include fiber coupling, a lens attachment and one, two or four sensing channels. Easy system setup, control and data acquisition is achieved through a builtin USB 2.0 PC connection and included Java analysis software and thus this complete solution in a box means that it is no longer necessary to be an optics or electronics expert to implement high resolution photon timing.
The PCSTime is ideally suited to researchers who require an easytouse photon counting and timestamping system.
The PCMPlusX is the first solidstate photon counting sensor integrated in an intelligent photon counting system. The PCMPlusX facilitates the integration of detectors, lasers and signal processing for OEMs. This results in significant space savings and efficiencies for OEM customers who require multiple sensors in their equipment. The PCMPlusX is controlled through
a modular, Java based, USB interface designed to enable the user to easily configure and manage the multiple sensors within the PCMPlusX module as well as control multiple PCMPlusX modules. A graphical interface not only allows each sensor to be individually optimized but also displays the photon count rate through customised graphics and analytical tools. The platform is
currently available with up to four sensing channels with a maximum of sixteen available on request.
